The Bloomington, Illinois Newspaper the Pantagraph has mentioned Calvert Funeral Homes in an Article on Legislation and the Lawsuit against the Illinois Funeral Directors
Association. The Lawsuit revolves around the The fact that the Illinois Funeral Directors Association Had 59+ Million Dollars disappear out of The IFDA Preneed Trust.
Here is the quote from the article:
“Funeral homes across the state, including Central Illinois-based Calvert Funeral Homes, have sued the Illinois Funeral Directors Association and others to determine how millions of dollars were allegedly lost in a pre-need funeral trust fund administered by the association.”
Calvert Funeral Homes (managed out of Calvert Metzler Funeral Home, Bloomington, IL) which operates 30+ funeral homes has a lot to lose in covering it’s large number of IFDA Preneed Trust Contracts. Disbursements to funeral directors has been scaled back because of the contracts. According to the Comptroller in Illinois- Chains of Funeral Homes in In Illinois like Calvert Funeral Homes are to cover the losses in funeral contracts for policyholders signed up with the IFDA Preneed Trust.
In the lawsuit I maintain that both the funeral homes who are plaintiffs and the defendants associated with The IFDA are at fault. Both parties and did not properly keep track of their money. They did not do their due diligence.
