President Obama reacted to the pulling of the plug on grandma and “death panels” on Saturday night at a town hall meeting in Colorado. Any kind of government run health care would involve judgments that would have life and death consequences for people. The bureaucrats would have the power of life and death in how they administer the program. Eventually they would pull the plug on some grandma somewhere.
The insurance companies already have their own ‘death panels.’ I have actually had hearings in their offices to fight for the health care of my handicapped daughter, and my wife. The panels usually consisted of executives including doctors on the their staff. In several hearings I won my cases for bill payments and health care.
Then their are those death panels in the Human resources departments in corporations that are closely connected to their insurance companies. Usually these businesses large and small are really self insured and not covered by regulations that health insurance companies.
In the cases mentioned above the individual can make oneself known and put up a fight. I wonder though if the Federal government were to control the health care how a person could assert oneself and let his/her situation be known.
That said President Obama is not out to kill Grandma with his health care proposal. But that may not prevent an administrator from letting it happen.
In one small company the employees and the owner actually got together and talked about who got health care and made recommendations to the boss as to who got what health care.
According to Politico quoting President Obama.
“I just lost my grandmother last year,” he said, adding that it is outrageous to suggest “that I ran for public office, or that members of Congress are in this so they can pull the plug on grandma.”
