The Worlds Largest Funeral Corporation(NYSE: SCI) has officially gained control of the Las Vegas Funeral Market. The Attorney General of Nevada has approved the Settlement Agreement. A FTC consent order was also issued.
This was reported by the Associated Press and Yahoo News. IN EFFECT SCI WILL HAVE CONTROL OF THE MARKET . The FTC says it will not be a monopoly according to Press Release.
Snippet From the Houston Chronicle.
Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto said in a statement that without the sale of Davis Funeral Home and Memorial Park and another SCI-owned Davis funeral home, the company would have a “near-monopoly” with 76 percent of the Las Vegas funeral market and control most of the region’s cemeteries.
“Cemeteries involve major purchases, typically at an extremely difficult time when consumers are most vulnerable,” Masto said. “It is critical to preserve competition in the cemetery market for local Las Vegas families.”

The Federal Trade Commision has been negligent in its regulation of Service Corps International ,The situation is the same as their ruling in The Florida SCI takeover of the Jewish Market .They listened to arguements but did not hear the message .I can not prove it but the Busch administration and now the Obama Adminstration have people who are very influential in forming the FTC rulings. Having appeared before the FTC to protest the Florida situation I firmly believe that this is the case .FUNERALGATE
